Espag Window Handles

Helpful Notes:

These espag handles all have a 7mm square spindle protruding from the underside of the handle (the spindle goes inside the window). All handles have 43mm fixing centres.

How to replace your Espag Handles:

Take the handle off the window by its two fixing screws and measure the length of the spindle as shown here

Just choose the style you prefer from the designs shown and select the spindle length you need (all sizes available so no cutting down required!).

Note: Extra long spindles available with the W61 Espag Window Handles (upto 50mm). If you need Non-locking Espag Handles try the W65 espag window handles. These can be used for fire-escape windows too.

Espag handles can be found on timber windows too provided the window has a multi-point locking system around the opening perimeter of the window.

Espag handles information

There are lots of espag handles to choose from as this type of window handle is now the most modern type available. Lock manufacturers are staying with the concept for now anyway and using a spindled handle to drive the multi-point locks around the perimeter of the window. On most double glazed windows this is nearly always the case now.

A common problem when replacing espag handles can be in measuring the spindle length needed as invariably the base and the lever can detach themselves and even the spindle can disengage. If the spindle disengages then just push it back it in and measure the protruding length that remains exposed i.e. the length that actually goes inside the window. If you get this right it will ensure the handle will engage with the gearbox of the multi-point lock and then one will turn the other.

Some customers wonder why the prices vary for the espag handles range we provide. There can be a number of different reasons including the material the espag handles are made from i.e. some are heavier metal based such as zinc alloy or some are lighter made from aluminium alloy. Some have better key locks and others have budget locks, some manufacturers just make better quality as well like the UK ones we sell which will be more expensive than the ones that come in from abroad. In a general sense we sell a lot more of the higher priced expensive espag handles than we do the cheaper ones. The relationship bewteen price and quality is a very firm one in our opinion.
