If you are looking to change your euro cylinder then this quick guide will show you how to measure a euro cylinder lock barrel.

There are two ways to measure the sizes of the euro cylinder - either in the the door or take the cylinder out of the lock. Both are easy!

HOW TO MEASURE THE SIZE OF THE EURO CYLINDER LOCK BARREL WHEN IN THE DOOR

Measurement sizes for the euro lock shown on the edge of the door.

Measure from the centre of the screw hole (X) to the edge of the handle backplate on the outside (O) and round up the size to the next 5mm increment i.e. 32mm = 35mm. This will ensure the euro cylinder protrudes from the backplate of the handle (try to keep it as close to the backplate as possible). Now do exactly the same and measure the inner side (I).

Note: Screw hole (X) is the retaining screw for the euro cylinder lock barrel.

If ordering new upvc door handles then make sure you allow for the difference in the backplate thickness to your existing handle.

HOW TO MEASURE THE SIZE OF THE EURO CYLINDER LOCK BARREL OUT OF THE DOOR

Measuring euro cylinder locks out of the door.

Euro Cylinder Lock

Measure from the end of the cylinder barrel to the centre of the screw hole each way.

Please note: Do not measure to the end of the black cam ring. Sizes can reversible so for example 40/50 is 50/40 but not in all cases. The DL30 is not reversible so take care to get the outer size correct.

Thumbturn Euro Cylinder

Measure from the end of the euro cylinder lock barrel to the centre of the screw hole each side.

Please note: Do not measure to the end of the black cam ring. Do not measure the thumbturn - only to the barrel end. If measuring a DL30 3 star anti snap door lock do remember the outer size is the anti-snap size so is not a reversible size.
